Cardinal Catholic Council positions are open to any Ball State student. More information on each of the positions is listed below. Each CCC position is a
January to December
Each person running for a CCC position this year must fill out a
Letter of Intent
form. This letter is a statement of your commitment and intentions for running for a particular CCC position. Forms may be obtained by emailing Ryan Weigold at email@example.com.
CCC Positions 2017
The president of the Catholic Student Union is in charge of planning and leading all CCC meetings, being a part of Pastoral council, and serving as a go-to person for every member of the council. The president also needs to make sure the Catholic Student Union is working with the campus to follow all campus rules and regulations that campus clubs should. The president also needs to oversee other council members and help them out when needed.
******Must have served at least one year on CCC or been a Newman Center Intern******
As Vice President, skills of coordinating are needed. Many of your tasks include helping the President whenever needed, getting people to help with Welcome and Welcome Back Week events, and also either organizing or finding people who would love to organize teams to participate in philanthropic events. The biggest responsibility you have will be the go-to person during Homecoming. You have to attend a few meetings for this and also get people to be involved! Other than that, have fun with it and really get to know everyone on council!
The position of Treasurer in CCC includes planning and running Friday Night Dinner, and keeping track of finances. The Treasurer needs to arrive early for FND to set up tables and chairs, take down the walls, grab money for change, and help out the cooks with whatever they may need. After FND, the treasure needs to facilitate the cleanup of the kitchen and St. Francis basement. Also the treasure is in charge of keeping track of the funds for CCC and meet with the business manager if funds need to be deposited or withdrawn from the CCC bank account.
The Secretary is in charge of taking minutes during the CCC meetings. Other responsibilities include checking the CCC mailboxes in the Newman Center and the Student Center, sending out the weekly emails, and helping with registration at the beginning of the year.
Pastoral Council Liaison
The Pastoral Council Liaison on the Cardinal Catholic Council serves as the liaison between the students at the Newman Center and the parishioners. The Pastoral Council Liaison attends Pastoral Council meetings once a month and participate in discussions. The Pastoral Council Liaison relays information back and forth from students at the Newman Center/CCC and the parishioners. The Pastoral Council Liaison plans the Parish Gala as well as one other event during the school year.
*Be advised with the change in the January to December commitment of CCC and the Gala happening in February, you will stay on the council an extra month to fulfill your Gala responsibilities.
Work with the other co-chair in leading a retreat in the Fall/Spring, by forming a team and planning meetings that lead up to said retreat. Then the co-chair will serve on the team for the retreat, if not lead it. Usually this retreat follows a specific format. Both co-chairs will report back to the weekly CCC meetings on the progress and status of the retreat.

As part of the Cardinal Catholic Council and the St. Francis Newman Center, the social chairs are called to create, plan, and execute Boo Bash, Christmas party, Mardi Gras, Beach Bash, as well as an additional event each month. This position requires individuals who collaborate well with others, are flexible, self-motivated, and most importantly, have the enthusiasm and passion that is critical for successful events. Your job is aimed to reach out to Ball State Students and welcome them into the environment capable of fostering and maintaining fellowship and friendship.
Be advised that you will be responsible for not only planning but also set up, tear down, and shopping (with your own money and reimbursed later) for each event.
The Cor Chair is responsible to organize and lead a team of students to plan, prepare, and implement COR nights. They must lead or delegate work to coordinate all advertising, setup, tear down, music, games, MC's, food and outreach for each COR event. The COR chair must work with Campus Minister to arrange speakers for the event.
The Service coordinator coordinates service projects and opportunities for students, and is in charge of planning the alternative spring break trip with the Campus Minister. The service chair needs to plan at least one service Saturday a month.
The publicity chair’s main function is to be the social network outreach for the Cardinal Catholic Council. The publicity chair uses Facebook, Twitter, and a weekly bulletin column to alert students about Catholic Student Union events.
