When we look at the signs of the times and we see that the Church is becoming more and more out of place, it is only natural for us to question whether or not the Church is going to make it through… Do our teachings need to “evolve” in order to survive in this secular society?
But persecutions imposed from without and scandals that have emerged from within are nothing new to the Catholic Church. In fact, when the future has seemed the most bleak, it is precisely then that God has raised up particular men and women devoted to the fundamentals of Christianity, which history has proved to be utterly indestructible. And through the sheer holiness of these individuals, a renewal has spread to support the entirety of the Church.
Given the current struggle for religious liberty in the nation, we, your resident seminarians, thought it would be most fitting to present to you a talk series titled “Renewal.” We will be looking back to times where the Church seemed to be on the verge of collapsing, examining the lives of those who raised her up again, and finally applying the lessons of their witness to our own live, in order that we may be instruments of the modern renewal.
