This ministry to the hospitalized and homebound members of our faith community involves a pastoral visit to the sick, praying with them, preparing them for and/or administering Holy Communion. It may involve just a pleasant conversation with them. You should be commissioned as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion in order to administer Communion.
A priest or deacon visits the sick on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. St. Francis volunteers visit the sick on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and every other Sunday of the month when there is a need.
