Small Christian Communities
A small Christian community (SCC) is a group or 8-12 people who come together regularly to reflect on their lives in the light of the Gospel and seek to live their faith in an authentic way.
Generally, SCCs meet every other week for about an hour, although the frequency of meetings may vary from group to group and at different times of the year.
Each SCC meeting will include: prayer, the reading of Holy Scripture, faith sharing, and application to daily living. At different times, groups may go through a topical or thematic program, meditate upon and discuss the scripture readings from the upcoming Sunday liturgy, or they may study Church documents or other spiritual writings.
Adults of all ages are welcome. Although this SCC program is originating at St. Francis of Assisi University Parish in Muncie, members of other parishes are more than welcome. Non-Catholics are welcome to meet with groups as well, but it must be understood that the character of these groups is decidedly Catholic and that each group remains submissive to the bishop of the Lafayette diocese and to the pastor of St. Francis.
