2020/2021
Toddler Class - 8th Grade (Confirmation)
As we look forward to our 20/21 Youth Faith Formation Year, we are very aware of the ever-changing situation with Covid-19, and in our attempt to plan ahead for classroom sizes, adequate supplies, curriculum, & volunteer Catechists, we are asking all families who are interested in YFF to register now. We understand your preferences, as well as the directives from the Governor and our Diocese can change at any time. We will work continuously to give our families and students the best catechesis we can, whether from home or from our classrooms. Thank you for understanding and please continue to pray for all those effected by this virus.
PLEASE NOTE - due to the uncertainty surrounding Covid-19 and the economy,
the St. Francis of Assisi Parish and Newman Center Finance Council has approved waiving
all student YFF fees for the 20/21 school year!
Class schedules and meeting times have not been determined for the 20/21 academic year, they will depend heavily on registration numbers, so please be sure to sign up!
First Reconciliation and First Communion is a two-year program starting in 1st grade as per our diocesan guidelines. The Sacraments are received in 2nd grade. 2nd grade students who have not completed a 1st grade Religious Education class or attended Catholic school for 1st grade will be registered as a 1st grader in our YFF program.
Confirmation in the Muncie Deanary takes place during a child's 8th-grade year. All 8th-grade students (over 13 years of age, who have made their Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, and First Communion) are welcome to register for Confirmation preparation classes.
Questions about YFF or the Sacrament of Confirmation, please contact Christine Wolfert at the parish office at cwolfert@parish.dol-in.org or by phone at 765-288-6180.
Our Christian call is (1) to know and love God and (2) to hand on that faith to the next generation.
As Catholics, we pass our faith to the next generation through catechesis both at home and as a community. Catechesis is:
“an education in the faith of children, young people, and adults which includes especially the teaching of Christian
doctrine imparted, generally speaking, in an organic and systematic way, with a view to initiating
the hearers into the fullness of Christian life” (CCC 5).
At St. Francis, Youth Faith Formation exists to fulfill this mission as a supporting role to parents by
supplementing your primary responsibility in catechizing your children.
